In December 2024, the ancient Kazakh tradition of "Betashar" was included in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This decision was made at a meeting of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay.
Following the directive of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an open lecture and a theatrical performance were held at Shakarim University on March 20 to promote elements included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
A lecture on "The Genesis of the Betashar Song in Various Aspects through Ritual Parallels and Its Educational Significance" was delivered by Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor of the History Department, Amantai Isin. Additionally, a theatrical performance titled "Betashar as a Unique and Unparalleled Song in Kazakh Wedding Traditions" was organized under the guidance of Candidate of Historical Sciences and Senior Lecturer of the History Department, Zäure Mukataeva.
